I was in Seattle in June, chatting with Dan Nordstom, the CEO of Outdoor Research. As I was subtlety pitching him on a sponsorship position he stopped me, mid-sentence, with “You know Eric, we get people asking us to fund their vacations everyday around here, but most of them aren’t as old as you! .... Thanks Dan (and THANKS for the check).
So far I’ve received strong support for my adventure. The contrasts of cultures, topography, and climates should make this an interesting trip, even before anything goes wrong.
I know that my corporate sponsors will benefit from my experiences; I’ll be putting their gear through some extreme conditions. But I’ve been asked already how someone might “hop on” and share the adventure with me. I’m flattered and honored, and if you’d like to buy me a tank of gas, a bed for the night, or a tire (or two) just shoot me an email (eric@motoamericas.com )and let me know what you’re thinking.
It’s impossible to come up with a realistic budget for this trip…..and somehow that adds to my adventure.
